About

Hi, my name is Sophia Chen.
I am a UX & Product Designer based in Toronto.
I've always been sentimental - holding onto movie tickets, birthday cards, wristbands, you name it. I learned later that it's because I’ve always cared about how things make us feel.
Professionally, I translate that into designing solutions with empathy by thinking about how my work makes others feel.
With a background in Systems Design Engineering and Cognitive Science, I’ve learned how to tackle complex problems with a human-centered approach, prioritizing users' needs.
In my spare time, you can find me junk journaling, collecting trinkets, or learning a craft.
Sometimes I climb.
These are my core beliefs when it comes to my work.
UX principles should be applied everywhere.
From conducting user interviews to to designing interfaces to handing off prototypes, good UX makes everyone’s lives easier.
User insights are invaluable.
Whether formal or informal, it's crucial to touch base with your user group to validate assumptions.
Nothing is accomplished in isolation.
It is a privilege to work in a team and to continuously learn from others.

Loch na Thull, Scotland, 2023. A quick stop on a roadtrip with some pals that took my breath away - one of my fondest memories.
